Sensationeller Fund!

April 2015 wurde das obenabgebildetes Schiff bei einem bekannten Auktionshaus versteigert. In 2010 wurde ein ähnliches Schiff aus der Malcolm Forbes Sammlung bei Sotheby's New York verkauft. Es kann eindeutig an Fleischmann zugeschrieben worden und ist m.E um 1918 - 1920 gebaut worden.

Obwohl die Name ''Cap Polonia'' auf dem Rumpf steht geht es hier sicher um den ''Cap Polonio''. Die Name 'Cap Polonia'' taucht in verschiedenen Internet Quellen auf, aber eine genauere Recherche führt immer zu dem ''Cap Polonio'' zurück.

Das Schiff wurde in einem maßstab von 1:200 gebaut, ist 1 Meter lang und wurde zum Werbezwecken für die Hamburg-Südamerikanischen Dampfschiffahrts-Gesellschaft gebaut. Wieviel solche Modelle gebaut worden sind, ist Objekt der Recherche. Das Sotheby's Modell ist mit einer Beleuchtungsvorrichtung ausgestattet. Das oben abgebildetes Modell ist nicht mit einer Beleuchtungsvorrichtung ausgestattet. Weiter sind die Rettungsboten weggenommen um eine gute Reinigung zu ermöglichen.

In der Zukunft wird es möglich mehr Klarheit geben über der Namensgebung dieses Schiffes. Wer mehr Info hat wird versucht sich mit mir ins Verbindung zu stellen.

Sensational discovery!

At the end of April 2015 the above pictured ship was auctioned at a well known auctionhouse. In 2010 the same type of this ship - as part of the Malcolm Forbes collection - was sold at Sotheby's New York. The above pictured ship can be identified as a Fleischmann liner and according to my belief it was made around 1918 - 1920.

Although the ship is named after the ''Cap Polonia'' it is in fact the ''Cap Polonio''. the name ''Cap Polonia'' can be found in several internet sources, but research of these sources always lead to the name ''Cap Polonio''.

The ship was built in the scale 1:200, measures 1 meter in length (with the flag at the rear it should measure approx 1,02m) and was build for commercial use by the Hamburg-Southamerika Steamline Company. How many of these models have been built is yet uncertain.

The Sotheby's Model can be illuminated, but the above pictured model is a none illuminated version.

Hopefully I can give more info in the future about the question why the ship's name was mispelled. Anybody who can give more info to this subject is welcome to contact me.
